Offline use

Public AAC is local-first: after the app has loaded once, speaking never needs a network. Boards, editing, settings, recordings, and voices all run on the device.

Three offline notes:

  • First load needs a connection — that’s when the app installs itself for offline use.
  • Neural voices download once when selected; after that they speak offline. The system voice needs no download at all.
  • Sync (if you use an account) simply waits: changes queue on the device and replicate when a connection returns. Nothing about speaking waits with it.
